A symbol of determination and presence
Courage and Power
Courage and Power stands as a vivid exploration of duality and strength, captured in a 20 by 16-inch acrylic painting. At the center is a tiger, moving directly forward, a symbol of determination and presence. What draws the eye first is the purposeful division of its form: the left side flows in calm purples and blues, evoking a quiet, almost mystical energy, while the right side ignites with warm oranges and yellows, embodying fire and intensity. This split isn’t just a visual choice—it expresses the balance between restraint and boldness, meditation and action.
The background complements this division with colors that drip and blend vertically, creating movement that feels both fluid and deliberate. I achieved this by combining acrylic paint with ink, then introducing water and alcohol to activate unpredictable textures and flows. This process added a layer of spontaneity to the piece, reinforcing the idea that courage and power are dynamic forces, never static.
What inspired me was the posture of the tiger itself—its forward stride speaks of confidence and purpose. Through color, I wanted to deepen this narrative, exploring how contrasting energies can coexist within the same being. The tiger's fierce gaze and meticulously detailed stripes emphasize its majesty, reminding us that strength takes many forms.
Creating this piece was an invitation to reflect on the complexity of inner power—to see not only the flame of fierce determination but also the calm beneath it. Courage and Power is about stepping forward fully, embracing all aspects of ourselves with intention and balance. I hope this painting resonates as more than an image; it is a prompt to recognize the dual energies within and move forward with both courage and conviction.
